The lychees of Thanh Ha, Hai Duong

In the middle of June, if the tourists visit Thanh Ha of Nam Thanh district, Hai Duong province, they will have the chance to taste the sweet and delicious lychees and see by their own eyes the blazing red of lychee gardens. It seems that

the golden sunlight of summer is replaced by the  dark red of bunches  lyrees. The tourists will close themself into fairytale world with heavily laden with lychees and hospitable gardeners with happy smile in beautiful gardens. The lychee of Thanh Ha is one of the most famous fruit because of  their deliciously sweet taste in Vietnam. 

 

The lychee fruit is about 1½ to 2 inches in size, oval to rounded heart shaped and the bumpy skin is red in color. Once you peel the skin off, thecrisp juicy fleshof a lychee fruit is white or pinkish, translucent and glossy like the consistency of a grape, but the taste is sweeter. Lychees have a sub acid sweet taste and have a wonderful freshness to them that is hard to describe. Lychee fruit is high in the antioxidant Vitamin C and the essential mineral Potassium.. Also, speciality preserved lychee keep their orginal sweety. The older the lychee trees are, the thicker and sweeter the flesh is.

There are many kinds of lychee but the lychees of Thanh Ha are the most famous because they require special conditions to grow up such as weather, land and caring. Lychee plantation has been intensively expanded in the last decades in many areas of Vietnam, however it is facing difficulties in low fruit quality due to genetic inhomogeneity .We can call Thanh Ha was the birthplace of lychees in Vietnam.
