Linh Phuoc Pogoda in Da Lat City

Location: Linh Phuoc Pagoda is locally known as Ve Chai (glass) Pagoda located at 120 Tu Phuoc,  ward 11, Trai Mat area, about 8 kilometers away from the center of Dalat City on National Highway No. 20.

Characteristic: The pagoda was built in 1949 by some monks and nuns, and Buddhists from Thua Thien – Hue and completed in 1952. However, it became widely known in 1990 when Most Venerable Thich Tam Vi, the verger of the pagoda had the pagoda fully restored and some more new constructions built. Linh Phuoc Pagoda has beautiful architectural facilities. This unique architectural style always impresses tourists once they visit this sophisticated pagoda.

The main hall is 33 meters in length and 12 meters in width with two rows of columns sophisticated mosaic of dragon, the bas- relief on a more sophisticated mosaic about historical Buddha Shakyamuni and the historical stories of the Lotus Sutra, Amitabha Sutra.

In the main temple, there is a statue of Thich Ca Buddhist with the height of 4.9m, sitting under the root of Bodhi tree.

In the Long Hoa Vien (Garden of Flower and Dragon) there is a 49 meters long dragon statue, and its fin is covered with fragments of 50 thousand bottles of beer. Once you see this statue you might be amazed. Especially, in front of the Garden of Flower and Dragon there is a tower with 7 floors, 36 meters in height which is considered the highest tower in Dalat now. This is also a museum. On the right of the tower, they arrange place for worshipping, houses for monks staying and. In addition, there is a Great bell (casted in 1999) considered the largest bell in Vietnam today. The Great Bell is 4.3 m in height, 2.3m in diameter and 8.5 tons in weight. The bell can revolve showing four sides which depict the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter, and 8 flanking dragons. Tourists are advised to turn the bell to the season they are in, write their wishes on a piece of yellow paper, stick the piece of paper onto the bell and then chime the bell three times to send their prayers the Buddha.

Taking a trip to visit Linh Phuoc Pagoda in the chilly cold of the “flowers city” is an exciting experience for those who seek the sanctuary of a worshipping place and the unique architecture of Vietnamese pagodas.
